Alexander Graham Bell

Alexander Graham Bell was a scientist, inventor and innovator, and is widely known for inventing the first telephone.
Alexander Bell was born on 3 March 1847 in Edinburgh, Scotland and came from a family of elocutionists, even though his mother was deaf, having began to lose her hearing when he was 12,
His interest and fascination with science originally started when he was a child; his first invention was a homemade device to de-husk wheat for his neighbour who greatly encouraged him at that time and was put into operation and used steadily for a number of years.
In 1888, Alexander Graham Bell became one of the founding members of the National Geographic Society.
However, the telephone was not his only invention as he has 18 patents granted in his name alone and the 12 that he shared with his collaborators. These included 14 for the telephone and telegraph, four for the photo-phone, one for the phonograph, five for aerial vehicles, four for "hydro-airplanes" and two for selenium cells.
Sadly, Bell passed away at the age of 75 on 2 August 1922 from pernicious anaemia. Upon Alexander’s death, all telephones throughout the United States stilled their ringing for a silent minute in respect to the man who made communication possible.
The world is sorry to lose such an amazing person and such a brilliant mind, however, his journey was not in vain, as in addition to his inventions, he has left us with many meaningful quotes on various topics including:

Character:
“A man, as a general rule, owes very little to what he is born with - a man is what he makes of himself.”
Focus:
“Concentrate all your thoughts upon the work at hand. The sun's rays do not burn until brought to a focus.”
Achievements:
“What this power is, I cannot say. All I know is that it exists...and it becomes available only when you are in that state of mind in which you know exactly what you want...and are fully determined not to quit until you get it.”
Overcoming Failure:
“When one door closes another door opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us.”
“Before anything else, preparation is the key to success.” – Alexander Graham Bell

“Man is an animal which, alone among the animals, refuses to be satisfied by the fulfillment of animal desires.” – Alexander Graham Bell

Homeopathy In Sharm

When you visit the doctor, he will ask you what is wrong. "My foot hurts," you might say, and the doctor will lift the foot and look at it from all angles.
He has seen this before. Within 15 minutes, he will learn all of the details he needs to make a diagnosis. He will write on a pad, hand you a slip of paper, and you will hobble out the door. This is how medicine is done, right?
Why is it then, that for the same complaint, a homeopath will require that you sit in her office for at least an hour? Why will she ask you about your childhood, your dreams, your preferences for food, and so on?
What are these tiny white pills she has recommended you, and why do they have a name that sounds so strange?

Do You Believe In The Evil Eye?

Hello Muriel,

Do you believe in the evil eye?

 Thanks,
Mona

Dear Mona,
I don’t think it is about belief; it is more about respect and acceptance for other people’s beliefs. It is not about my opinion either as opinions become diluted with age.
The ‘Evil Eye’ is believed by many cultures to be able to cause bad luck or injury on the person to whom it is directed.
The concept and significance of it varies widely between cultures, but for me the psychodynamics are of ‘envy.’
It has been mentioned several times in the Bible and is also mentioned in the Koran.
