Charleston; Pure Delight
Dance your way to the new Italian restaurant Charleston, located in the prime spot of El Mercato, just opposite Starbucks. Open from 4pm – 12am for dinner, Charleston will soon be serving breakfast and lunch in the very near future. The first thing that will take your breath away upon entering the restaurant is the extremely romantic setting and atmosphere, starting from the subtle lighting right down to the candles on the tables, not to mention the polite waiters who personally greet you at the door.
Once inside you, will feel relaxed and at ease with the perfect music playing softly in the background to add the perfect touch to your mood. All in all “perfetto” as the Italian would say…
Even in such a short time having only been open, Charleston has made quite a name for itself already. Guests are a mixture of nationalities; mainly tourists but many locals also frequent the place. Being an Italian restaurant, the stylish décor makes you really feel like you are in Italy, right down to the wooden floor boards and the quaint terrace outside where you can enjoy the view as well as indulge in fantastic Italian cuisine.
“90% of our guests are tourist, but we would also like to encourage locals.” – Stated Mr. Safwat, the General Manager.
Their cuisine needs no introduction, as it speaks for itself; it is easy to see where their great reputation has rapidly evolved from. They have a wide selection of pastas, pizzas and traditional Italian specialties, with the choice of either rice, fries or vegetables with many of the dishes. However, the most popular dishes so far seem to be their ‘Grigliata Mista’, ‘Pollo alla Charleston’ and of course, an all time favourite ’Lasagna’, not to mention their large mouth-watering dessert menu.
“If there are any special requests, we can do them, so long as it is within the menu” – said Ismail Abdelhamid, the Executive chef, with 18 years experience under his belt and winner of first prize in the Pasta Dish Competition by the Egyptian chefs Association.
Their presentation is more than inspiring, as all dishes almost look to good to eat. However, we would recommend the ‘Branzino con Basilica’ and ‘Rigatoni ai Frutti di Mare’ then finish of this scrumptious meal with the sinfully delicious ‘Chocolate Cup’ for dessert but don’t forget to ask for the soup of the day. No alcohol is served here, but you are more than welcome to bring your own bottle for free. Also, there is a non-smoking section in addition to a smoking one for those still on the nicotine.
Service is excellent and all waiters were extremely tentative and courteous right down to the tiniest details as most comment cards revealed.
“Very good service, thanx for a good evening” – read one comment card.
“We have been in Sharm 8 days now, the best meal we have had!” – Admitted Gary Sykes, a satisfied British tourist.
“This is the third time we eat here because the food is good & nice waiters.” – Confessed Carl Fr. Aas, a Norwegian guest.
So, when you think Italian cuisine; think Charleston, as no place else will you feel the authentic Italian atmosphere and be more relaxed and at home.

Do Women Really Believe the Earth is Flat? If they Venture Forth Will they Fall off the Edge?
I do not walk in front of my man to test the ground for landmines.
(E.Moon)
The ‘F’ word has no place in my vocabulary.
Instead I have a belief in ‘EOG’
Feminism is an outdated adjective.
EOG sounds more like a substance to save the planet doesn’t it? However it is my own personal belief in ‘Equality of Genders.’ There now I have said it.
Feminism has been around since the 18th century. In 1792 May Wollstonecraft published her Vindication on the Rights of Woman, an important work advocating the rights of women.
Mary’s attitude stems from being born the daughter of a brutish, tyrannical father who bullied his wife into an exhausted state of servitude.
My answer to the male gender that retains the belief they can chain a woman’s mind and body is simply, “get a grip.” No one can own or chain a mind, you cannot steal another human being’s thoughts and you cannot strangle a soul.

By Soraya Morayef
Anyone who claims that they can’t find bargain shopping in Cairo is delusional. First of all, we Egyptians love a good bargain; we may not have created the concept of sales and discounts, but we very well could have.
